గర్భరక్షాంబికా అమ్మవారి చరిత్ర – విశ్వాసాన్ని జీవితం చేసే దేవతా క్షేత్రం

మన భారతదేశంలో ఎన్నో దివ్య పుణ్యక్షేత్రాలున్నాయి. అందులో గర్భరక్షాంబికా అమ్మవారి ఆలయం అత్యంత విశిష్టమైనది. ఇది కేవలం ఒక ఆలయం కాదు — ఇది ఆశ, విశ్వాసం, ఆశీర్వాదాల జీవ రూపం.

ఈ ఆలయం తమిళనాడు రాష్ట్రం తంజావూరు జిల్లా పాపనాశం తాలూకాలోని తిరుక్కరుకావూర్ గ్రామంలో ఉంది. తంజావూరు నుండి కుంభకోణం వెళ్లే మార్గంలో, కుంభకోణానికి 20 కి.మీ దూరంలో ఉంది. ఇక్కడ అమ్మవారు శ్రీ గర్భరక్షాంబికా దేవిగా, స్వామి వారు శ్రీ ముల్లైవనాథర్ శివలింగంగా కొలువై ఉన్నారు.

గర్భరక్షాంబికా అమ్మవారి ఆలయ చరిత్ర

ఈ ఆలయ చరిత్ర అద్భుతమైన భక్తి కథతో మిళితమై ఉంది. ఇక్కడ ఒక నిధ్రువ మహర్షి అనే ఋషి తన భార్య వేదికతో కలిసి ఆశ్రమంలో నివసిస్తూ పరమేశ్వరుని ఆరాధనతో జీవితం గడిపేవాడు. కానీ వారిద్దరికీ సంతానం కలగలేదు. వారు పరమేశ్వరుని మరియు పార్వతీ దేవిని అత్యంత భక్తిశ్రద్ధలతో పూజించారు.

ఒక రోజు, అమ్మవారి అనుగ్రహంతో వేదిక గర్భం దాల్చింది. ఈ సమయంలో నిధ్రువ మహర్షి ఒక పనిమీద బయటకు వెళ్ళాడు. ఆయన లేనప్పుడు ఊర్ధ్వపాదుడు అనే మరో మహర్షి ఆశ్రమానికి వచ్చాడు. ఇంటి పనులలో అలసిపోయిన వేదిక విశ్రాంతి తీసుకుంటుండగా అతిథి వచ్చిన సంగతి తెలియక అతిథి సత్కారం చేయలేకపోయింది. ఈ విషయం చూసిన ఊర్ధ్వపాదుడు కోపంగా ఆమెను శపించాడు.

శాప ఫలితంగా ఆమె శరీర భాగాలు విచ్ఛిన్నం కావడమే కాక, ఆమె గర్భంలో ఉన్న శిశువు కూడా క్షతవిక్షతమవుతూ పోయింది. ఆర్తిగా అమ్మవారిని ప్రార్థించగానే పార్వతీ దేవి ప్రత్యక్షమై ఆ శిశువును ఒక పవిత్ర కుండలో ఉంచి రక్షించింది. ఆ శిశువు అదే నైధ్రువన్.

ఆ బిడ్డకు కామధేనువు పాలిచ్చి పోషించింది. ఆ తర్వాత నిధ్రువ మహర్షి తిరిగి వచ్చి జరిగిన విషయాన్ని తెలుసుకుని ఆనందంతో పరమేశ్వరుని మరియు అమ్మవారిని ప్రార్థించాడు: “ఇక్కడే ఉండి భవిష్యత్ తరాలకు కూడా అనుగ్రహం కలుగజేయండి.” ఆయన ప్రార్థనతో తల్లి పార్వతీదేవి గర్భరక్షాంబికగా, పరమేశ్వరుడు ముల్లైవనాథర్‌గా ఈ స్థలంలో నిలచిపోయారు.

ఆలయ ప్రత్యేకతలు:

• అమ్మవారు: సుమారు ఏడు అడుగుల ఎత్తుతో, పట్టు చీరలో, సర్వాలంకారాల తో మెరిసే రూపంలో దర్శనమిస్తారు. ఆమె చిరునవ్వు భక్తులకు భరోసా కలిగిస్తుంది.
• ముల్లైవనాథర్ స్వామి: పుట్ట మన్నుతో చేసిన లింగరూపంలో స్వయంభూగా వెలిశారు. ఇక్కడ జలంతో అభిషేకం చేయరు, మల్లె నూనెతో మాత్రమే అభిషేకం చేస్తారు.
• ప్రతి సంవత్సరం ఫాల్గుణ పౌర్ణమినాడు చంద్ర కిరణాలు లింగంపై పడే అరుదైన దృశ్యం ఇక్కడ చూడవచ్చు.
• శిలా శాసనాలు: తొమ్మిదవ శతాబ్దపు చోళుల కాలం నుండి ఉన్న శాసనాలు, పురాతన గోపురాలు, శిల్పాలు ఈ ఆలయ చరిత్రను స్పష్టంగా చెబుతున్నాయి.

గర్భరక్షా ప్రసాదం విధానం:

• నెయ్యి ప్రసాదం : ఆలయంలో శివపార్వతుల ముందర మంత్రించిన నెయ్యిని 48 రోజులు నిద్రించబోయే ముందు దంపతులిద్దరూ సేవిస్తే సంతానం కలుగుతుంది.
• తైల ప్రసాదం (గర్భిణీ స్త్రీలకు): ప్రసవ నొప్పుల సమయంలో ఉదర భాగంలో మర్దన చేస్తే, సురక్షితమైన ప్రసవం జరుగుతుంది.
• ప్రత్యేక అర్చనలు: సంతానాభిలాష గల స్త్రీలు తమ జన్మ నక్షత్రం రోజు ప్రతి నెల ఈ ఆలయంలో ప్రత్యేక పూజలు చేయించుకోవచ్చు. సంవత్సరం మొత్తం 500 రూపాయల అర్చన తో ఇంటికే కుంకుమ, విభూతి పంపబడుతుంది.

మా సాక్షాత్కార అనుభవం:

మాకు పెళ్లయి 10 సంవత్సరాలైనా సంతానం కలగలేదు. డాక్టర్ల పరిశీలనలో ఎటువంటి వైద్య కారణం కనిపించలేదు. నమ్మకంతో కుక్కే సుబ్రమణ్య స్వామి దగ్గర సర్ప సంస్కార పూజలు చేశాము. ఆ తరువాత గర్భరక్షాంబిక అమ్మవారి నెయ్యి ప్రసాదాన్ని 48 రోజుల పాటు సేవించాం. తర్వాత నెలలోనే మా శ్రీమతికి గర్భం దాల్చింది. ఇది మా జీవితంలో మహత్తరమైన దివ్య క్షణం. ఇప్పుడు మా బాబు ఆరోగ్యంగా పుట్టాడు.

ఈ ప్రయాణాన్ని మీతో పంచుకోవడానికి ఇది ఒక చిన్న ప్రయత్నం మాత్రమే. గర్భరక్షాంబిక అమ్మవారి మహిమ అనంతం. మేము స్వయంగా అనుభవించిన ఈ అనుభూతి ద్వారా మీకు కూడా ఆశ, ధైర్యం, విశ్వాసం కలగాలని కోరుకుంటున్నాం.

ఎలా వెళ్లాలి?

తిరుక్కరుకావూర్ గ్రామం, తంజావూరు జిల్లా, తమిళనాడులోని తంజావూరు – కుంభకోణం రహదారిలో ఉంది.

• రైలుమార్గం: కుంభకోణం రైల్వే స్టేషన్ నుండి 20 కి.మీ దూరంలో ఉంది.
• బస్సు / క్యాబ్: కుంభకోణం నుండి టాక్సీలు, ఆటోలు అందుబాటులో ఉంటాయి. బస్సులు కూడా తక్కువ విరామాలలో లభిస్తాయి.
• తమిళనాడు ప్రభుత్వ టూరిజం డిపార్ట్‌మెంట్ ఆధ్వర్యంలో టూర్ ప్యాకేజీలు లభించవచ్చు.

ఆలయ దర్శన సమయాలు:

• ఉదయం: 5:30 AM నుండి 1:00 PM వరకు
• మధ్యాహ్న విరామం: 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
• సాయంత్రం: 4:00 PM నుండి 8:30 PM వరకు

గమనిక: పండుగలు, పౌర్ణమి, శివరాత్రి, కార్తీక మాసంలో ప్రత్యేకంగా ఆలయం తెరచి ఉంటుంది.

Garbharakshambika Temple – A Divine Sanctuary for Motherhood

India is home to countless divine temples, each with unique powers and legends. Among these, the Garbharakshambika Temple stands out as a sacred refuge for women seeking motherhood, protection during pregnancy, and divine blessings for a healthy child.

Located in Tirukarukavur village in Papanasam Taluk, Thanjavur District, Tamil Nadu, this temple is situated about 20 kilometers before Kumbakonam on the Thanjavur-Kumbakonam route. The main deities worshipped here are Garbharakshambika Devi and Sri Mullai Vananathar (Lord Shiva).

History of Garbharakshambika Temple

The temple’s origin is rooted in a moving legend of faith and divine grace. A sage named Nidhruva Maharshi lived here with his wife Vedika, and they worshipped Lord Shiva with devotion. Though virtuous and content, they had no children. After years of worship, Goddess Parvati blessed Vedika with pregnancy.

While Nidhruva was away, another sage named Urdhvapada visited their hermitage. Vedika, exhausted from chores, failed to welcome him properly. Offended, Urdhvapada cursed her, unaware she was pregnant. As a result, she developed a strange disease, and the fetus began to disintegrate within her.

Distraught, Vedika prayed sincerely to Goddess Parvati, who manifested before her and saved the fetus by placing it in a sacred pot. The child born from that pot was named Naidhruvan. Kamadhenu, the divine cow, nourished the baby with her milk. Later, when Nidhruva returned and learned everything, he begged the divine couple to reside in the place permanently to bless future generations. Thus, Goddess Parvati became Garbharakshambika, and Lord Shiva became Mullai Vananathar, both enshrined in this sacred temple.

Temple Highlights

• Goddess Garbharakshambika is seen adorned in silk sarees and divine ornaments, with a motherly smile assuring devotees, “Don’t worry, my child, I’m here for you.”
• Lord Mullai Vananathar is a swayambhu (self-manifested) Shiva Linga made of clay, so only oil abhishekam (with jasmine oil) is performed instead of water.
• During Phalguna Pournami (full moon day in the Tamil month of Phalguna), moon rays directly fall on the Shiva Lingam, creating a rare and divine sight.
• The temple has ancient inscriptions from the 9th century Chola period, showcasing its antiquity and architectural grandeur.

Spiritual Practices and Offerings

1. Ghee Offering (for couples seeking pregnancy):

The temple offers ghee (clarified butter) blessed in front of Shiva and Parvati. Couples must consume a spoon of this sacred ghee before sleeping every night for 48 days. It is believed this ritual leads to conception.

2. Oil Offering (for pregnant women):

Pregnant women can receive sacred oil (castor oil) blessed by the deities. When labor begins, applying this oil on the abdomen ensures a safe delivery.

Note: If the woman can’t visit the temple, her spouse or family member can perform the ritual and collect the oil on her behalf.

3. Special Monthly Archana:

Women seeking childbirth can register for monthly poojas on their birth star (nakshatra) day. The temple performs the archana and sends kumkum and vibhuti to their home monthly. Annual fee: ₹500.

Personal Experience

We had been married for 10 years without children. Medical tests showed no issues, but conception never happened. We performed Sarpa Samskara Pooja at Kukke Subramanya Temple, followed by the Garbharakshambika ghee ritual. Miraculously, the very next month, my wife conceived.

Today, our baby is born healthy. This life-changing journey led us to immense faith and gratitude. We experienced the goddess’s power firsthand and wish the same blessings upon all couples who yearn for a child.

• Nearest Airport: Trichy (around 90 km)

• Morning: 5:00 AM to 12:30 PM
• Evening: 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM

Daily Mantra for Devotees

You may chant this simple prayer daily for divine grace:

“ఓం శ్రీ గర్భరక్షాంబికాయై నమః”

Which means: “Salutations to Mother Garbharakshambika, the divine protector of pregnancy.”

After the birth of a child with the goddess’s blessings, it is customary to bring the baby to the temple and place them in the silver cradle in front of the goddess as a token of gratitude. This act is believed to ensure the child’s long and prosperous life.
