నాగుల చవితి అనేది దీపావళి అమావాస్య తరువాత వచ్చే కార్తీక మాసం శుద్ధ చతుర్థి నాడు జరుపుకునే పవిత్ర పండుగ. కొన్ని ప్రాంతాల్లో దీన్ని శ్రావణ శుద్ధ చతుర్థి నాడు కూడా జరుపుతారు. మన భారతీయ సంప్రదాయంలో ప్రకృతి అంటే దేవత అని విశ్వసిస్తూ, చెట్టు, పుట్ట, రాయి, నదీ, పర్వతం వంటి సమస్త జీవరాశులలో దైవత్వాన్ని గుర్తించారు.

భూమి లోపల నివసించే నాగపాములు భూసారాన్ని కాపాడే ప్రాణులు.

Nagula Chavithi is a sacred South Indian festival observed on the fourth day (Chaturthi) of the bright fortnight of Kartika month, following Diwali Amavasya. Some regions mark it during Shravana Shukla Chaturthi as well.
